We have a unique Off Island Base with children coming together from both Tresco and Bryher for their learning. The Bryher children start their day by meeting one of our teachers on the quay and catching a boat across the channel between the 2 islands to arrive at the school base on Tresco. Depending on the tides sometimes the children start their day on different islands and then join together later in the day. The school base is a stone’s throw from the beautiful Green Porth Beach, which is handy for a lunchtime picnic or an outdoor lesson. We also have a wonderful outside sandy playground.
The school has 2 classrooms and 2 teachers, one for the infants and one for the juniors. The children love being part of a small school and enjoy friendships across the age ranges as well as enjoying all the educational advantages of small classes. This learning environment brings the children independence and teaches them to take care of one another. When asked about the best thing about our school someone simply said ‘We just know everyone and always know where to go’
